Dr. Dana Wallace, MD - FCAACMiami, FL  (November 2012)  — It is with great pleasure we announce earlier this month the Broward County Medical Association (BCMA) held its 86th presidential inauguration where our very own Dr. Dana V. Wallace, M.D. was installed as the 2013 president. A commendable feat in and of itself, but knowing she is only the third female president appointed in 86 years makes this honor all that more impressive. The inaugural ceremony and dinner took place on November 3, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale, and was attended by 250 notable members of the medical community. This title brings prestige, not only on a personal level for Dr. Wallace, but to our practice as well. Congratulations!

Dr. Wallace is an active physician at Florida Center For Allergy & Asthma Care, board-certified in pediatrics/allergy, asthma & immunology, with ample experience as a first-hand practitioner and as member of numerous medical committees and organizations. Dr. Wallace is an associate clinical professor at Nova Southern University in Davie, FL. She is also immediate-past president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), and currently serves on the World Allergy Organization Board of Directors (2012-2016). Dr. Wallace has received the ACAAI Distinguished Service Award (2009), and the ACAAI Woman in Allergy Award (2008). Read full bio here.

Presiding over the Broward County Medical Association (BCMA) is her most-recent accomplishment. When discussing her vision of this organization, Dr. Wallace says she would like find a way to revitalize the membership by creating several interest sections, so that all members can find at least one to which they can connect. “It is no longer true that one size fits all. We need to bring members together who have common questions, needs, and goals”, she says.

The BCMA has a long history dating back to 1926 with a defined mission to promote and preserve the highest standards of medical care and foster the ethical principles of the medical profession. The BCMA, through its many committees and volunteer organizations, continues to superbly serve the profession (approximately 1700 physician members) and the citizens of Broward County.Dr. Wallace is looking forward to the prospect of creating many new interest groups, and all the challenges ahead during her 2013 presidential term.
