FAQs

Answers to common questions about our providers.

What types of providers are on your team?

Florida Center For Allergy & Asthma Care has two categories of providers: board-certified physicians (MDs and DOs) who are Diplomates of the American Board of Allergy & Immunology or board-eligible, and Advanced Practitioners, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work alongside our physicians. Together, our team brings decades of specialized experience treating allergies, asthma, and immune disorders in patients of all ages across South Florida.

Are your doctors board-certified in allergy and immunology?

Yes. All of our physicians are Diplomates of the American Board of Allergy & Immunology (ABAI), the gold standard of specialized training in allergic and immunologic conditions. Achieving this credential requires completing an accredited fellowship and passing a rigorous national exam, going well beyond what a general practitioner or internist receives. Our physicians have collectively served tens of thousands of patients across South Florida, earning a reputation as some of the most trusted allergists in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.

Do your physicians treat both adults and children?

Yes; our physicians specialize in both adult and pediatric allergy and immunology, so the whole family can be seen under one roof. Whether it’s a child with food allergies or asthma, or an adult managing chronic hives or hay fever, our team provides age-appropriate care at every stage of life.

Do I need a referral to see an allergist in Florida?

In most cases, no; many insurance plans allow direct access to specialists like allergists without a referral. We recommend calling your insurance provider to confirm your plan’s requirements. When in doubt, call us at 1-877-4-ALLERGY and our team will help clarify before your visit.

Can I request a specific doctor?

Yes, you’re welcome to request a specific provider when scheduling your appointment. Availability may vary by location and schedule, but we’ll do our best to accommodate your preference. You can view each physician’s office locations on their individual profile pages to find the provider who best fits your needs and is closest to you.

Do your providers speak languages other than English?

Yes — our diverse team of physicians and staff reflects the multicultural community we serve across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Spanish-language services are available at all our locations, and our website is available in both English and Spanish. Contact your nearest office to ask about language availability for specific providers.

How do I know which provider is right for me?

A great starting point is reviewing our physician and advanced practitioner profiles, where you can learn about each provider’s background, training, board certifications, and office locations. If you’re unsure, simply call us at 1-877-4-ALLERGY and our team will help match you with the right provider based on your symptoms, location, and scheduling needs.

I’m a referring physician — how do I send a patient to your practice?

We make it easy. You can submit a referral directly through our online Refer a Patient form at florida-allergy.com/referring-providers-form. Our team will coordinate the rest, including scheduling, insurance verification, and communicating back with your office. We accept patients from across South Florida and welcome collaboration with primary care physicians, pediatricians, pulmonologists, and other specialists.

Do your providers conduct clinical research?

Yes — Florida Center For Allergy & Asthma Care has an active research program. Our physicians participate in clinical trials for new allergy and asthma treatments, which also gives qualifying patients access to cutting-edge therapies. Visit our Research page to learn more about current studies and whether you or a loved one may be eligible to participate.

How do I schedule an appointment with one of your providers?

You may not need a referral; scheduling is simple and open to new patients. Request an appointment online at florida-allergy.com/patients/request-an-appointment, call 1-877-4-ALLERGY, or walk into any of our 19 offices across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.
